Dr. S.P. GonChaudhuri

As one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, India is emerging as a global leader in addressing climate and clean energy challenges and is committed to increasing its renewable energy share to 50% of the total requirement by 2030.

The NGOs will play an essential role in achieving the target. Moreover, NGOs will play a significant role in the capacity-building sector in Low Carbon technology.

NB Institute for Rural Technology (NBIRT) is working in the field of Renewable Energy for a long time. The institute is promoting Renewable Energy and Low Carbon technology in tribal areas. During the year 2022-23, the institute has undertaken a number of projects in Tribal areas of Tripura, particularly in the housing, energy, sanitation and drinking water sector. The Institute executed the projects by adopting a low-carbon and Renewable Energy route. The skill Development program has also been taken up by the Institute during 2022-23. In the future, NBIRT proposes to take up more programs in the Tribal areas of Tripura. The Institute has excellent Infrastructure and manpower facilities. DST, govt. of India has extended all support to NBIRT to expand their activities in different parts of India. I hope the Institute will take up more projects in Tribal areas of Tripura in the future days with support from different Govt. of India Agencies.
